Last night I had spaghetti bolognese for dinner (before and after mixing photos above). I was not worried about this dish at all because I love spaghetti squash and I LOVE meat. As I suspected, this was delicious. I enjoyed every bite and wish I had a second helping (but glad I didn't...discipline CHris, discipline). There was a hint of sweetness to the sauce and when I looked at the ingredients I saw they used cinnamon. Not sure if that was the spice I was tasting or if it was something else, but it was a nice twist to a traditional sauce and was delightful (yeah I said delightful).
Triple "B" Patty with Sweet Potatoes
One word...Awesome. First dish I had with pretty much no vegetables (the burger was laid over what looked like a small bed of peppers and onions which was nice and gave it some extra flavor). I liked the change-up from what I had been eating for the past week. Sometimes a guy just wants some meat and potatoes. Potatoes were cooked well, no complaints here. The burger was wonderful. I loved the taste of the burger. The patty was very thick and very filling.
Supreme Pizza Bowl
I am not a fan of vegetable pizza, but I am a fan of this meal. This was essentially a vegetable pizza with sausage added (and obviously no dough or cheese, we are going Paleo after all). Like most of the meals, this comes separated into sections, and like most of the meals this is way better when mixed together. The flavors worked really well and I liked the spices used to cook the sausage. It was not bland or dry. Very juicy with tons of flavor.
Turkey Patty with a Coconut Red Pepper Spread
I can't remember the exact name of this dish, but essentially that is what it was. I didn't enjoy this dish as much as my other meals this week, but that has nothing to do with how flavorful or good it was. I hate coconut. It is one of my least favorite flavors and I don't know if it is just a mental thing, but coconut flavor seems to overpower everything else in any meal I have ever cooked or eaten that included coconut. Still this was not that bad. The turkey patty was really thick and filling. There were vegetables included int he dish as well and they were good. For myself, the spread would have been awesome without and coconut flavoring, but I know a lot of people love coconut and that will make this dish even more enjoyable. I still ate the whole thing and didn't mind it too much. Again, I don't think this meal was bad, I just don't like coconut, so it was less enjoyable than others.
Tomato-Basil Turkey Patty with Carrots and Broccoli "Risotto"
Here is another dish filled with things I don't usually enjoy (I am weird, I know), but I actually liked this meal a lot. Broccoli and carrots are not on the top of my list of things i want to eat on a daily basis, but I like the carrots and the broccoli "risotto" was freaking awesome, especially when mixed with a little bit of the tomato-basil sauce. The turkey patty was slightly dry on the inside, but that was easily remedied with the sauce as well. Again, this patty was super thick and filling.
Chicken Breast with Red Cabbage Salad
I really can't remember what I ate on Monday. Monday was a really long day at work where I was traveling up to Kingston and back. I didn't get a chance to eat lunch until around 3:30 or possibly later. I do remember that there were thin sliced strips of chicken breast and a red cabbage salad. Nothing amazing, but nothing bad either. Does anyone like cabbage? It's a serious question. I am pretty sure my mom does, but she likes beets as well and who likes beets? Everythign that I am not a fan of I just shovel down my throat as quick as possible and save the stuff I do like for the end. I mean, it is good for you so you might as well eat it. It's not going to kill you. If anything it will help you to live a longer healthier life. That's how I look at it.
